We are always looking to welcome new members to join our ever improving golf and social activities. From regular roll ups, club competitions and matches there are lots of opportunities to enjoy friendly competition. Our social calendar is ever growing and contains regular special events.
Our proud history informs our progressive vision for our future as a Golf Club. For over a century Hagley GC has been here to offer the opportunity of friendly golf on an ever improving golf course.
With strength in numbers we field strong teams for Scratch, West Midland and 'B' Team matches.
It is a great honour for me personally to represent you as Captain of Hagley Golf Club for the year 2019. I look forward to meeting those of you I know well and those I have yet to meet, both on and off the course. I welcome all new members and would encourage all of you to promote Hagley for the fine course and facilities we have to offer.
We as a club work very closely with the management of these very fine facilities and we both need each other to be successful in what we do. I believe we have been offered realistic terms again this year and I look forward to working with the management and staff of the Clubhouse and Golf Course.
From the fixtures list you can see that we have a wide variety of competitions organised for this year. I would also encourage all members to consider trying out for our representative competitions. It is a great way to meet different members and does encourage you to play better golf, and visit some fine golf courses.
There is a great committee behind me who are always ready to support in whatever way is needed and I look forward to working with all of you as a team.
My chosen charity this year is Pancreatic Cancer UK
Each year around 10,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It's the fifth most common cause of cancer death, causing five percent of all cancer deaths each year.
Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers – just 3% of those diagnosed survive for five years. It is also the only cancer that has seen no improvement in this figure over the last 40 years.
I hope you can all dig deep to help raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.
Hoping you all meet your individual goals both on and off the golf course for 2019.
