Lady Captain’s Welcome

Linda Raybould - Lady Captain 2025

Lady Captain 2025 – Linda Raybould

What an honour to take up the role of Lady Captain at Hagley Golf Club in 2025!  Firstly, many thanks to the out going Captain June Davis for a stunning job achieved in 2024.

My broader aims this year, along with the committee, are:

To continue to build on the sound foundations laid by previous Lady Captains; ensuring the transition is smooth, reliable and organised.
To further develop good communication between other committees to ensure a positive spotlight shines on the Ladies Section
To support all lady members regardless of where they are on their golfing journey.
To warmly welcome all new ladies into our ranks as they integrate into the section and wider golfing community.
To further deepen our links with the academy to ensure that transitions from academy to section are effectively, regularly and solidly made.

Our section is held together by a group of women, some with a long history of golfing prowess while others arenewly initiated into this addictive but exciting sport.  It is the shared interest in golf that binds us together but it is the long standing friendships made on Hagley’s fairways that keep the section relevant and worthy.

We are thankful for the work achieved in our academy that provides a steady stream of new and interested ladies to our ranks.  They are warmly welcome as are any new ladies from wider afield who are interested in joining our growing community.

The offer to any new ladies thinking of joining this section is vast and this year, together, we will engage in:

Hagley Opens run by the ladies (check website for details)
Society Days
Ladies Weekly Competitions (see ladies locker room for details)
Ladies Friendlies at home and away (see ladies locker room for details)
Charity competitions
Bring and Buy Sale – 5th March
Lady Captain’s Away Day 30th June
Lady Captain’s Day Competition – 6th September (open to all 5 and 7 day members)
Lady Captain’s Dinner Dance – 13th September
Lady Captain’s Sleep Over – 19th to 20th September
We will be fielding a team into the Daily Mail Foursomes Challenge, with the hope of reaching the finals once again!

AND  much much more!

In amongst all this activity, we are hoping  to raise funds for our club charity.  This year we are supporting ‘Up and Downs’; a local charity supporting children with Downs Syndrome and their families.

The Ladies Committee exists to serve the lady members of this club and they are:

Linda Raybould – Lady Captain / Ladies Opens

June Davis – Ladies Secretary / Social

Debbie Le Quesne – Ladies Treasurer / Juniors Welfare Officer

Alison Wright – Competitions / Handicaps / County / Greens / Juniors

Julie Burn – Friendlies Competitions

Ellie Perks – Academy Liaison / Newsletter / Social

Whilst the committee works in all of these areas, it would be remiss not to thank and value the continued support of our lady members who are always at hand to help when necessary from cake making, manning the registrationdesk at Opens to giving thoughtful/pragmatic advice.

If you need a friendly face to guide you to membership at Hagley Golf Club, I am available on 07479206050.  Don’t hesitate – do it now!
