Competitions News – 5th April 2023

Congratulations to Ian Chambers for winning Sundays April Monthly Medal and Wychbury Qualifier. Also well done to Gavin Harper and Paul Waddington for winning their respective divisions.

The top 16 qualifiers from each division go through to the knockout stages of our scratch competition, The Wychbury Cup.

With the introduction of the World Handicap System I have had to look carefully at how these qualifiers are determined given that we each essentially play with 3 different handicaps (Handicap Index, Course Handicap and Playing Handicap). We have decided that, when working out which players qualify for which division, it is only fair to use the same parameters that were in place on the day of the qualifying competition. Therefore ‘Playing Handicaps’ will be used to determine which divisional knockout players will be selected into, should you have qualified.

The qualifying players will be installed on the system either today or tomorrow.

Booking for The Clent Hills Shield 2023 opens up online on Thursday morning at 9am. For all new members, this competition is a foursomes (alternate shot) matchplay comp. Player A in the pairing plays off odd numbered tees and player B plays of even number tees. Alternate shots are then taken until the ball is holed. Please just add your pairing to the list. £4 Entry fee will be taken from your card upon booking. You have until 27th April to get your pairs in.

Just to clarify for all new members, if you are taking part in any of our knockout competitions it is up to you to arrange a time to play against the player or players that you have been drawn against in any particular competition. We allow several weeks for you to be able to play the competition and a deadline for each round is posted on the system. Your match must be played before this deadline date arrives. Any questions, please just get in touch with me mattgreaves@sky.com

Finally all of our open booking forms are now available through the website. Please spread the word to your mates on the outside and get them to put a team in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. We’ve now included a Texas Scramble as one of our opens because, well, everyone loves a scramble!
