Course Update

Autumn is now well and truly here and the course is being adapted in the usual ways to suit the changing conditions. Importantly you will see the tees on all the par 3’s moved to the winter mats as of 1st November. This is done to give the main grass tees a chance to properly recover and benefit from continued maintenance work in the off season. To ensure no one is tempted to play from these areas there will be a combination of either fencing and netting placed on the grass tees to protect them too. It will be really appreciated if all golfers can please play from the mats as the tees are moved onto them. As it is just the par 3’s that are being moved on 1st November the course will remain qualifying from the yellow tee scorecard.

Roping off across some fairways, some approaches and routes from greens to tees is also in place. This will continue over the next few weeks. The roping is there to guide golfers toward paths, of which there are now more to utilise, and away from areas that may become worn. It is of particular importance for buggies and personal ride on vehicles to follow the ropes and be prepared to apply the 90 degree rule too. A guide on this can be found by clicking HERE

Maintenance work has been continuing across the course as the temperatures have remained high enough for grass growth. The recent application of fertiliser on the tees and fairways has taken advantage of these conditions and the results have been very encouraging for the time of year.

As well as the mowing the putting greens will be aerated with small tines followed by rolling, or ironing. to even the surfaces out. Again, the condition of the putting greens at the moment is a really good indicator that recent work has been successful and the current maintenance plan should continue to be applied.

Have a good week on the course.
