Course Update

Although we have had a mixed week of weather the course has continued to play well and works have continued to progress.

Tree work on 2nd

Most of you will have noticed the tress that cast shade onto the 2nd competition tee were removed last Saturday. The work was carried out very efficiently and we intend to carry out similar works on trees that are affecting play on the course in the coming weeks.

Ditch clearance continues

The ditch clearance is also progressing well with the right side of the 1st now nearly complete. Again this work will continue to ensure ditches are tidy and it is possible to find golf balls within them.

Wild flower areas

You may have noticed the sheets around different areas of the course over the past few weeks. These have been placed to allow wild flower seeds to germinate in these areas. The sheets will be removed in the coming days and hopefully the flowers will grow successfully.

New digger

Investment in machinery for the greens staff remains a priority and the latest arrival is a new mini-digger. This will replace the aging digger the team have been using for the last few years. The more powerful, longer reaching boom and manoeuvrable bucket will aid both course maintenance and development.

Short game area

The bunkers around the short game area have now been filled. The sand will take 2 or 3 weeks to settle in. Play is not permitted in these yet. Mowing heights around the area have now been lowered to prepare for a trial opening period planned for June. The Greens Committee will be sending a specific communication to GC members about this in the coming weeks.
