Course Update
As mentioned last week there has been a lot of work going on around the water hazards on the 2nd and 9th holes in the last few days. Thankfully the weather has really helped this progress and given the greens team the chance to complete a full week of maintenance work too. Hopefully the good weather continues and you will all see the good work for your selves over the next few days. Please read below for more detail on works completed, underway and planned for the next week or so.
2nd/9th Water hazards
As you can see in the gallery below the exit pipe from the 2nd water hazard was exposed by the recent subsidence and so to the the chamber into which the water was being directed. This has now been renovated with a brand exit grill fitted in front of the exit pipe to prevent excess material blocking it in future. A new inspection chamber and cover have also been fitted. Whilst there the construction team also kindly cleared reeds and debris from the front section of the hazard to tidy it up.

The construction team moved across from 2nd to 9th hazard on Friday. 7th March, in the meantime the greens team had cleared much of the front of the area. This area has now started to be cleared out and the pond in the hazard tidied up. The work will continue into next week with the ponds depth being evened out, the surrounds feathered to the meet the water level, then over seeded. There will be a further update on this in next week’s post.
Maintenance work
As the dry, sunny and increasingly warm weather continued this week it made it possible for the greens team to:
Mow fairways and rough to properly define playing areas
Hand mowing, slitting for aeration and treatment with iron sulphate on the putting greens

This will hopefully mean those of you playing this weekend will likely be playing the course in its best form so far in 2025. It is a very encouraging start to the early part of the season and if the momentum is maintained the course will be in great shape for all spring summer.
Drainage and root barrier on 12th tee
Just before the opportunity came to get the work on 2nd/9th water hazards done the greens team began to work on the 12th tee. The trenches you can see pictured are for drainage and root barrier work. As soon as the work on the 9th water hazard is completed they will get this project completed.

Tree clearance on 15th
The greens team have also been working to clear trees that affect the playing line into, and/or the light, aeration and soil quality around the 15th hole. This Sunday a team of specialist tree surgeons will be working to remove and reduce trees on the left hand side of the 15th green. There will be a temporary green in play whilst they are working. Please take care around the area whilst work is in progress.

Have a good weekend
