Course Update

Work around 3rd/9th tees

Many of you will have noticed the recent installation of rope and posts around the 3rd/9th tee areas. We are really pleased with how the project has gone and it compliments the landscaping work very nicely. The purpose of the rope fence is to direct golfers around the tees rather than have the tees walked across which has been causing excessive wear and tear over the years.

It will be really appreciated if golfers can please follow the route defined by the ropes from now on.

Greens irrigation

As the latest heat wave brought yet more amazing weather it has also meant the greens staff have had to work extra hard to keep the main playing surfaces hydrated. As the picture below shows this has sometime meant manually irrigating sections of the putting greens in particular. If you see the watering process in operation during play please be patient and allow the green staff to complete this important work safely.  Thank you.

Greens maintenance w/b 17th August

As time pushes on we are closer to the end of the season and further greens maintenance is required next week to keep them playing as well as possible into the autumn. This round of work will include deep verticutting to remove thatch (organic matter) build up followed by solid tining for aeration. As these are completed the greens will then be top dressed with sand and if conditions allow there may be additional over seeding with the pure bent grass. Once all of this is done the greens will be rolled (ironed) to smooth the surfaces out for a true roll. As ever please be patient whilst the greens staff are carrying out their work.

Thanks again and have another good week on the course.
