Course Update

As well as the usual course maintenance work, which has included a lot of extra leaf blowing this past week, the greens team have been working on the fairways. Thanks to the continued good weather the mole ploughing fissures are now sealing (pictured examples of the 1st fairway) and conditions have meant the scarifier could be applied to the fairways. in the picture gallery below you will see how this picks the grass up and most importantly removes thatch (mosses, organic matter). Thanks to this process the fairways are in really good condition for the time of year and to ensure this is maintained a specific autumn/winter fertiliser will be applied to them in the coming weeks. The fertiliser will also be applied to tees to give them a boost before we switch to the winter tee mats.

Ahead of the winter the greens team have been continuing to lay the ground work for paths on the back 9. The majority of this phase is now complete with the bases of paths laid on 13th, 14th, 15th and 18th holes in the past couple of weeks. There is no doubt these will make it easier and safer for everyone to get round the course over the next few months.

Finally, just one more request for all golfers to please take the time to help with course maintenance by repairing pitch marks an raking bunkers as you play. It makes such a difference when GC members lead by example on this and it means everyone can enjoy the course at it’s best through the year.

Thank you
