Course Update

Another frustrating week for the course, but progress toward the start of the season continues…

As the picture below shows the rain hasn’t let us be again this week with 25mm over Wednesday and Thursday. At the start of the week the greens team were able to get a lot of work done, particularly on the Ventrac mowers. Cutting was completed on much of the front 9 and all of the back.  The image of the 18th fairway is typical of the amazing job this machine enables the team to do in conditions that would have prevented such work in previous years.

Following the aeration, top dressing and over seeding last week the height has been dropped on hand mowers for tees and they are ready to be back in play very soon. Mats will be removed in the next week or so and all play will be from the main tees once again.

As we look forward tot he 2024/25 season we also anticipate the opening of the short game area. The recent weather hasn’t affected it and it is bedding in very well. More information about how the area is to be utilised will be shared soon. However it is also now confirmed the the far end of the practice putting green, pictured to the right below, will have the collar of fringe grass grown in some more to provide a flat standing area from where ‘chip & run’ shots will be permitted soon.

The practice putting green will soon be divided into 2 sections to clearly indicate where chipping is permitted. This means the brand new area can be for your short pitching and bunker practice.

Fingers crossed for some good drying weather soon and we see you all on the course for the start of what will be a great season of golf.
