Course Update

A few weeks ago, we mentioned the greenkeeping team’s use of demo machinery, including the battery-powered Toro 3370 greens mower. The machine performed exceptionally well, and we are delighted to confirm that it has now been purchased. We expect delivery within the next few days. This mower utilises the latest technology to provide the highest quality and most consistent cut for our putting surfaces. Additionally, this purchase allows us to repurpose our previous greens mower for use on approaches, surrounds, and tees, which will improve the consistency and quality of those areas as well. We will send a special update once the new mower arrives.

Despite the recent unprecedented spell of hot and dry weather, the course is holding up remarkably well. To maintain the health of the main playing surfaces, the greenkeeping team is hand-watering the putting greens in addition to the regular overnight irrigation. With the forecast suggesting another 7–10 days of these conditions, we remain confident that these efforts will continue to be effective.

We have recently hosted several Opens, society groups, and County events, and the feedback regarding course conditions has been overwhelmingly positive. We recognise that reserved tee times for these events can be inconvenient; however, the reputation of the course and the Club is greatly enhanced by these visitors, which helps us attract more members in the long run.

Dear Members,
Again, I feel obliged to have to write in regard to general course etiquette.  We know, that for the enjoyment of all our members, it is expected that we repair pitch marks, replace divots and rake bunkers, once shot has been played.
On Sunday 5th July, we held a county 1st Team match at the course and we know that all bunkers were raked first thing by Greens Team.  The tee was closed at 09:15, with 1st Tee Time being 10:00 am.  We thought it sensible to further examine the course in the 45 minutes leading up to first tee time.  As many as 18 bunkers had to be re-raked, as members had not done so between the Greens Team doing this in the morning and our check.  The course re-opened at 10:40, again to close at 13:15 prior to the afternoon singles.  Again, when further checks were done, as many as 15 bunkers had to be raked.
There is not one of us who would want to play out of a deep foot mark, or hollow where a previous shot had been played from, can I please ask that you rake the bunker following your shot.  If you are playing with someone and you see they have not done this, then please ask them to do so.
