Course Update – Move to winter mats with black tee markers

From this weekend (15/16th November) we will be using new black tee markers to all winter mats. The course has now been measured and rated from the black tees and a scorecard will be available. This means that when playing conditions allow a return to placing closely mown the course could be qualifying from these tees. At the moment the course remains placing through the green and non-qualifying. The red tee markers are also described on the new scorecard.
PLEASR NOTE THE AMBER WEATHER WARNING FOR 14TH/15TH NOVEMBER IS LIKLEY TO AFFECT COURSE STATUS. WE WILL UPDATE YOU VIA CLUB V1 NOTIFICATION ASAP.
Please see below a reminder of the recent autumn/winter advice.
To ensure all GC members are aware of advice on how to make the most of the course over the next few months please see below some important recommendations.
1.Winter wheels mandatory from 8th Nov. If using a trolley please also follow the ropes and use paths where possible. It will help maintain the course and be easier to get round if we have wet conditions.
2. Carry if you can. If you can use a light weight carry bag, and even carry slightly fewer clubs than you might have in a trolley bag, it will often be a simpler route from tee to green. There are a variety of carry bags, include ‘pencil’ bags with stands, in the pro shop.
3. Ensure footwear is appropriate for ground conditions. This is very important as many shoes with moulded soles may not provide the support needed in wet conditions. If you can wear shoes with soft spikes they will give you better grip.
4. We recommend the use of the SPURK striking mats if playing in a non=qualifying game. Many members purchased the mat last winter and it was great to see how it helped both their golf and the course. We have more in stock in the pro shop if you haven’t already got one.
5. Later sun rise and variable weather means course assessment may take longer on some mornings. We will aim to be no later than 8.30am through the winter period  Your patience during course inspections will be greatly appreciated.
