‘Megatron’ and ‘Earthquake’ here to improve course maintenance program

Thanks to recent investments and our close working relationship with the Ground Maintenance Team at Hagley Hall our Greens Team are now able to implement an improved winter maintenance program. This means they can now utilise a much larger tractor, affectionately known as ‘Megatron’, than has been available in the past. Although this will be of use for many areas of course maintenance and improvement of particular benefit is that it now enables the Greens Team to properly utilise the ‘Earthquake’.

The ‘Earthquake’ is part of the decompaction/aeration of fairways and other playing surfaces that will help drainage in winter and the quality of turf in the playing season. Terraspiking will also form part of this program. Combined with the recent installation of brand-new primary drainage on holes 1, 4, 15 and 18 there is now a clear commitment to long term improvement of the course throughout the entire year, as well as the playing season.

When these works are being carried out it will be necessary to place greens on temporary or close a hole, for the shortest time possible.

A more detailed schedule of additional winter course works, including installation of some new winter tee mats and the completion of paths on front 9, will be shared with GC members in the coming week.
