Seniors’ Captain Foreword
I am very honoured to be addressing you as Seniors Captain of Hagley Golf Club and It goes without saying, that I will strive to do my best to continue to uphold the high standards and traditions that have been established and embedded in our culture, over many years by our former Captains, Committees & fellow members.
Special thanks to our outgoing Captain Dave Hampton, who along with our Seniors Committee have led us through a successful 2022 and I hope I can do the same for 2023
I joined Hagley Golf Club in 2006 not knowing anyone but it soon became very apparent that I had joined a very social and welcoming Golf Club and i was quickly invited to join in the in competitions, team matches together with weekend and midweek roll ups…this has continued over the years and if anyone was considering joining a Golf Club but was concerned about joining on their own I would recommend Hagley any day.
MY AIMS AND AMBITIONS FOR THE YEAR.
- Enjoy my year as Captain
- Uphold the high standards, traditions and ethos of the Seniors Section
- Endeavour to retain and improve our Senior numbers, by actively encouraging all club members who are eligible to come and join us.
- Promote and encourage Senior members to participate in all our activities, to include Interclub Social matches, Stablefords, Monthly Medal Comps, Golf away days and social gatherings throughout the year.
I am pleased to inform you that Mick Hunter will be my Vice Captain, Mick has been a member of the Senior’s committee for a while and runs the Senior’s opens which have been very successful and well organised
Hagley have decided to have a club charity which this year has been chosen by the Ladies Setion which is Halas Homes in Halesowen who specialise in four distinct areas of expertise ranging from Respite Care, Residential Care, Day Activities and Supported Living. They are a well established locally recognised organisation which remain true to the original values and ethos of providing quality care for people with learning disabilities in Halesowen and the surrounding area. This is and outstanding charity, well deserving of the nomination and i’m sure the Seniors will continue to give their support.
Finally, I wish all current and future Seniors, an extremely healthy and happy golfing year.
I look forward to joining you at some point during the year
Kevin Johnson
