Seniors’ Captain

Welcome to our Seniors golf section

Seniors’ Captain Foreword

It is a pleasure and an honour to be addressing you as Seniors’ Captain of Hagley Golf Club for 2024.

My thanks go to Kevin Johnson, the outgoing Captain who together with the Seniors’ committee have the section in a position of strength and stability which I hope to continue.

I joined Hagley 10 years ago as a complete novice but was immediately welcomed into the Seniors section and the club as a whole. I was invited to take part in roll ups and competitions with no shortage of volunteers to show me the ropes. To say Hagley is a friendly club is an understatement with members of all sections ready to help new members become part of the club.

My Vice Captain for 2024 is Steve Hinton, who is a long-standing member and has had a number of years on the Seniors’ committee. Steve will this year be taking on the role of team’s secretary; organising team matches with other clubs, which senior members have always enjoyed.

My aims this year are:

  • To build on the good work carried out by past Captains.
  • Promote the Seniors’ section as a section for all eligible members to enjoy golf and good company throughout the year.
  • Encourage more eligible members of Hagley G C to participate in senior’s activities.

The club charity for 2024 is SPDC, Sandwell Parents for Disabled Children, which helps to get disabled children and their families involved in sport, in the local area. A worthy charity indeed!

Finally, I would like to wish all Hagley G C members and visitors a happy, healthy and prosperous golfing year and I look forward meeting friends, old and new.
